Start Illustrator, Open a file, and Identify interface components

Create rectangles, ellipses, polygons, stars, spirals, and flares; modify object placement and size; use the Paintbrush tool; and create new brushes and symbols

Create and edit simple and complex paths using the Pencil and Pen tools

Add color, patterns, and gradients to objects; modify strokes; copy paint attributes between symbols

Insert and modify text; and convert text to outlined objects

Group and restack objects; and create, duplicate, and modify layers

Make a crop area; simplify complex paths for faster printer; set print options; and print illustrations
Duration: 1 day (9am-5pm)
Prerequisites: Basic Computer fundamentals. Graphic software helpful but not needed.

Adobe Illustrator Advanced
Overview: Adobe® Illustrator® Advanced is designed for anyone who wants to become a proficient graphics professional and create illustrations for both print and the Web. You will get the most out of this course if your goal is to become proficient in using Adobe Illustrator to transform objects, applying filters and effects, and automate tasks. Instantly convert bitmaps to vector artwork and paint more intuitively. Save time with intelligent palettes and optimized workspaces. Plus, tight integration with other software allows you to produce extraordinary graphics for print, video, the Web, and mobile devices.
After completing this course you will know how to:

Use the Tab Ruler palette, use smart punctuation, check spelling, find and replace text, link and unlink text blocks, and wrap text around an object

Transform objects to modify their shape and color attributes; apply 3D effects; use the pathfinder buttons and commands to modify objects formed by the intersection of two or more buttons

Manage colors by applying blending modes and gradient meshes, create masks to hide and reveal areas of underlying artwork through specific shapes, and use the Liquify and Symbolism tools to modify images and work with symbols

Discuss filters and effects, use the Color filters to adjust, blend, and invert colors; Use the Distort filters to pucker and bloat, roughen, scribble, and tweak, and twist objects; Use the Pen & Ink filters to aapply hatch effects and create new hatch effects; Convert shapes, add drop shadow, feather edges, and apply warp effects

Convert vector images to raster images and apply filters; Create, edit, and remove envelopes
Duration: 1 day (9am-5pm)
Prerequisites: Before taking this course, you should be familiar with personal computers, and the use of a keyboard and mouse. Futhermore, this course assumes that you've completed Adobe Illustrator Introduction.
