    Computer Tips & Tricks

Word - Tired of Clippy the paperclip always bugging you? Right-click on him and choose Hide.

Excel - When creating a formula, try clicking on the cells instead of typing their addresses. Your formulas will be much more accurate the first time.

Windows - Need a DOS window? Click the Start button, choose >Run, type CMD, and hit the ENTER key.

Internet Explorer - In the address bar, try entering a company name (with no spaces) and hitting CTRL-ENTER on your keyboard. This combination adds
http://www. and .com to the name, saving you quite a few keystrokes.

QuickBooks - If you have more than one checking account, change the colors in the check register so they will be more easily recognized. Once you are in your check register go to Edit > Change Account Color.

    Workplace Topic

What would you do if this happened to you?

A young man was driving his two-seater sports car when a dangerous storm struck the area. While struggling to keep his car on the road, he passed a bus stop where three people were waiting for the bus to escape the storm.  Here is a list of those who were waiting:

A. An old women who appeared that she might be dying any minute.
B. An old friend of yours who had previously saved your life.
C. The perfect man or woman of your dreams that you have been waiting all your life to meet.

The problem, of course, it that you are in your two-seater and you can only ask one person to join you. What should you do? Out of 100 job applicants who were given this story, only one came up with the best way to use his resources.

This is his response: I would give the car keys to my old friend and let him take the old lady to the hospital. I would then stay behind and wait for the bus with the woman of my dreams.

Now that is thinking laterally.

It is not the employer who pays the wages.
Employers only handle the money.
It is the customer who pays the wages.

Search Engine Ads: Money for Nothing?

Are you wasting money on search results you would probably get for free anyway?

Very likely, says a new report that asks whether search-engine ads are a complete waste of time & money.

After reviewing 30 paid search ad campaigns, reaching 120,000 users of Google, Yahoo! and  Microsoft, the study found nearly half the clicks came from people who had already visited the advertiser website, says an Atlas Solutions report.

In other words, some prospects use search engines like glorified yellow pages to search by companies or products.

Implications: Before spending more money on keywords or jumping to conclusions about how customers are finding you, you may want to do more to find out how visitors are ending up at your site. Were they searching by name or brand, or using natural search terms to find something that suited their needs?
