Computer Training - Certified Instructors, Local & Affordable
These are just a few of the many tips and shortcuts taught in our classes. Enjoy!
Windows - To quickly open drop-down menus, hold down the ALT key and tap the "underlined letter" in the menu title. Use the cursor keys to choose a menu item. Hey, it keeps your hands on the keyboard where they belong!
Internet - When reading a webpage, hit the END key to go to the bottom of the document, HOME key to go to the beginning, and hit the SPACEBAR to advance one screen at a time. Sure beats using the scrollbar!
Word - Need a synonym (same meaning, different word)? Position your cursor inside the offending word and hit SHIFT-F7. You'll sound so literate!
Excel - To quickly go to the last cell with data in it, hit CTRL-END. CTRL-HOME always takes you to cell A1. Very helpful in HUGE spreadsheets!
QuickBooks - Avoid using names as logins. Use job titles, such as Accounting 1 or 2. It's easier for users to understand their access and logins won't have to be changed (only the password) when a new employee comes aboard.
You Can Find Time For Training
Continual training and education gives team members the opportunity to realize their potential. But finding the time for team members to receive training can be tough. Try these ideas to reduce time in the classroom without jeopardizing quality training:
Have team members go to class between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. or 1p.m. and 5 p.m., instead of for a full day. ETR offers evening classes, which would be another option. That way, they can still attend to urgent team business.
Weekend seminars are becoming more popular. If you ask employees to sacrifice their private time, be sure to include an optional group outing or banquet to show your appreciation.
Develop a priority ranking system for course content. If time is tight, drop the least useful material.
Have members study course material so they hit the ground running.
If your team needs information on a simple topic, invite an expert to conduct a “lunch-and-learn” session.
