Helpful Computer Tips & Tricks

Windows If your icons appear "cluttered," right click on your desktop and choose Arrange Icons.  If you click the Auto Arrange option you'll never have to worry about them being out of line!

WordNeed to create an organizational or genealogy chart? Pull down the Insert menu; choose Picture and then Organizational Chart.  It's one of those little hidden gems in Word.

Excel By default, Excel only shows the last four "recently used" workbooks under the File menu. Increase that to nine by pulling down the Tools menu, choosing  Options, hitting the General tab, and then increasing the value.  Big time saver!

 Workplace Topics

Find time for training! Continual training and education gives employees and managers the opportunity to realize their full potential. Finding time, however, especially for team members to receive training, can be tough. Try these ideas to assure employees get the training they need without too much re-arranging in the office:

  • Take advantage of ETR’s ½ day classes instead of a full day.  That way, they can still attend to urgent daily business.
  • Saturday classes are now available.  If you ask employees to sacrifice their private time, be sure to include some type of benefit to show your appreciation.
  • If employees need information on a specific topic, invite one of  Executive Training Resources’ certified teachers to YOUR facility.  We specialize in customized training!
  • Take advantage of ETR’s prescriptive testing.  A short test supplied by ETR can help determine the level of training your employees need.  This eliminates wasting company funds and employees’ time by assuring they are registered in the appropriate class level.
